- Select the Work with sales order menu item and go to the Order lines panel.
- On the Order lines panel, click Smart order entry.
- On the Smart sales order entry panel, click the Item search tab.
- You access Smart sales order entry, Item search. Complete the following fields:
- Search fields
- Enter information in any of the six fields available to view a list of all item lines which contain that character(s). These fields can perform work-specific searches on up to 25 different item definition fields, defined in the Item search field control table. The more fields you complete, the more selective the search.
- Field types
- If you entered data in any of the six search fields, you can use these fields to qualify from where the search should begin. Enter a type (from the Item search field control table), below any entered search field to narrow down the search.
- Item
- Enter a part of an item code to view a list of all item lines, starting with the first item that contains that character(s).
- Search name
- Enter the first portion of any item description to view a list of all item lines, starting with the first item that contains that character(s).
- Order qty
- Enter the quantity you want to book for the line.
- Whs
- Enter the warehouse from which the item shall be picked and shipped. Tip: If you want to ship all lines from a single alternate warehouse, enter the warehouse code in the Whs field on the bottom of the panel and click OK. The warehouse for each line will change to this warehouse. Note: If you want the system to retrieve a new warehouse automatically when a sales order line is entered, you must delete the code displayed in the Whs field and click Accept all or Accept marked.
- Mark the order line(s) you want to book and click Acc mark, or
- Book all lines (Do not mark any lines and click Acc all).
You have two other options to locate item lines.
Click OK. The system displays the item lines according to the entered search criteria.
View different info
Click the Shift info function key to view different information for the order line(s).
Change info
You can change information in the following fields:

When you are ready to book you have two options. You can:
Note: If any errors occur while booking the order line(s), the system first displays the Order line, main info panel and highlights the error. After correcting the error, you return to the Smart sales order entry session where processing of the order line(s) can continue. If there are no errors, the system updates the lines on the Order line entry panel, but you remain in the Smart sales order entry session.
Click Back to exit the Smart sales order entry session. You will see the lines on the Order lines panel. You can now continue with the order line processing as usual. (See About sales order entry).
