Work flow for sales order allocation proposal processing

The following outlines the steps that you must follow in order to process a sales order allocation for an allocated item. Note: For non-allocated items, follow this process only if you wish to use this routine to allocate them.

  1. Enter a sales order line for an allocated item.
  2. Print the sales order confirmation for the line (at status 20).
Note: If the sales order type you used prints the sales order confirmation directly after the sales order line is entered, then the line will automatically be set to status 20. It will therefore, not be necessary to print the sales order confirmation manually. For more information on status codes see About sales order entry.
  3. A sales order allocation proposal is created in the Work with sales order allocation routine on warehouse level which will include the sales order line for the allocated item.
  4. Depending on the availability of stock, a quantity, that is equal to or less than the ordered quantity of goods, is allocated to the sales order line in the proposal.
  5. Confirm the sales order allocation line.
  6. Print the pick list.
  7. If the allocated quantity was less than the ordered quantity of goods, a back order line will be created when the pick list is confirmed (if the system is set up to handle back orders). The back order line can then, either be, included in a new proposal, or added to an existing proposal. Back order lines are processed in the same way as sales order lines.
