Manually add a discount to a sales order header

Header discounts are applied on the total net price of all the lines that are set to contribute to the order summary calculation (field Ctrb ord sum) and that also are to benefit from the order summary calculation (field Ord sum disc). Only discount percentages are allowed on an order header. To manually add a header discount, do as follows:

  1. Select the Work with sales orders menu item.
  2. To access the Work with discounts panel you have two choices:
    • Highlight the header and click the Discounts option.
    • Access the header in edit mode, click the Fnc list function key and select Header Discounts.
  3. On the Work with sales orders, Header, discounts panel, click Add and complete the following fields:
  4. Discount ID
Enter a discount ID to denote the reason for giving the header discount.
    Discount percentage
Enter the discount percentage you want to offer the customer.
The system calculates and updates the Tot discount amount field when the order summary discount calculation program runs (e.g., when closing the order). Note: The system must still be running the order summary calculation to get any applied header discount calculated (see the Ord sum calc field in the order header). Once you pick confirm any of the lines the Ord sum calc field will be set to NO. The effect will be that no header discounts will be calculated for new manually entered header discounts that are added after that.
    Tot discount amount
Displays the total discount amount that has been calculated for this discount for this line. Note: The discount amount is always rounded to the maximum number of decimals (4) for a discount that is set up with a discount %. When the total discount amount for a line is calculated it will utilise all the decimals when adding these discounts together and at the end of that calculation a rounding to the appropriate number of decimals will take place.

    Click OK to update.

You can view the lines that contributed to the header discount amount by clicking the Contributing lines option.
