Note:
The purpose of this functionality is to monthly calculate the cost of goods within the stock in order to obtain a stock value at the end of each month. Values for months in the past can be calculated or re-calculated at any time. The data is stored in the Stock evaluation – Closing period file, for each warehouse/item/period. You can then print a list of the stock evaluation calculation values.
Prerequisites
The following must be set up:

| Work with used transaction types | Enter the transaction types that should be considered for stock evaluation calculation. |
| Work with average cost calculation | On the Stock evaluation – Work with exclusions panel, enter criteria for the used transaction types that should be excluded from the stock evaluation calculation.
For a transaction type, you can define the following exclusions:
or a combination of these. When a transaction matches the exclusion criteria, it will not be included in the calculation of month-end costs. |
| Stock evaluation control file | This file must be defined before running the calculation program. On the Stock evaluation – Closing table panel, indicate the month (period) and the cost types that should be calculated. Normally, all cost types would be calculated. See the Panel help for field descriptions. |
Calculation process
The process of calculating month-end values consists of the following three steps which are all performed by the Stock evaluation – Complete creation program:
- Monthly transactions are uploaded to a temporary file used only for calculation purposes.
- Month-end stock on hand is calculated.
- Month-end costs are calculated and updated.
