When adding or copying an item, you are able to build an item based on its segment type. This requires that the Item file, Build item code from segments panel is displayed. To configure DC1 to present this panel at the time of creation/copying of an item, a View controls panel is used in which the Item segment field entry is set to YES.
To activate item segment entry for use when adding or copying an item do as follows:
- Select the Work with items menu item.
- You access Work with items, Active. Click the View Contr function key.
- You access View controls. Set the Item segment entry field to YES and click OK. The system has now configured your user information and a new panel will be presented as the initial panel, each time you add or copy an item.
