The function of simulating retrieval of forecasted demand for an item/warehouse combination is used in many other places in the system to estimate a forecasted demand during a specified time span. The function requires a start time and a time span length and accumulates from the period forecasts in the Forecast file to get a total forecasted demand for the requested time span. Note that the time span does not need to be fixed forecast periods.
Note: See section Forecast retrieval for information about the calculations that are performed in the background.
- Select the Simulate forecast retrieval menu item.
- You access Forecast retrieval simulation.
- Item
- Warehouse
- Start date
- Enter the start date for the simulation. The start date must be within the range of active forecast periods. Note: If this field is left blank, then Start period must be completed.
- Start period
- Enter the start period for the simulation. The start period must be within the range of active forecast periods. Note: If this field is left blank, then Start date must be completed.
- Number of days
- Enter the number of days from the start date or start period to be included in the simulation.
- Number of weeks
- Enter the number of weeks from the start date or start to be included in the simulation.
- Number of months
- Enter the number of months from the start date or start to be included in the simulation.
- Number of periods
- Enter the number of periods from the start date or start period to be included in the simulation.
- You return to Forecast retrieval simulation where Forecast demand now displays the simulated forecast demand value that is based on the selected parameters. Exit the routine.
Item/Whs
Enter the item/warehouse combination for which you want to simulate forecast retrieval in the following fields:
Start date/period
Enter either a start date or a start forecast period ID (CCYYPP) in the following fields:
Time span
The time span can be entered as a specific number of days, weeks, months or forecast periods. This is converted to a specific number of days using the values in Workdays/week, Workdays/month and Workdays/period in the IC control file. There is one exception to this rule and that is when the start time is a forecast period ID, and the time span is entered as periods. In this case, the period records are read directly from the Forecast file without converting the time span to number of days.
Complete one of the following time span fields (leave the others blank):
Click OK.
