Work with a demand trend analysis

The following describes how you can work with the demand trend results from the analysis before you update the trend code in the Item/Inventory management file.

  1. Follow the instructions in Identify and adjust demand trends.
  2. On the Trend list printout/update panel, complete the following additional fields:
    3. Update in work file
    Set to YES to indicate that you want to update the created report in a work file in order to analyse the result before updating the system.
    Trend analysis ID
    Enter an ID code to identify the trend analysis.
    ID description
    Enter a description for the trend analysis.

    Enter the applicable print parameters and click OK.

    What to do next?
    You now have the possibility to retrieve the analysis and work with the demand trend results.

  3. Select the Work with trend code menu item.
  4. You access Work with trend codes, Header where all trend analyses that have been saved in a work file are displayed. From this panel, you can delete the complete analysis report. If you click Change, you can change some of the header details. Select the analysis report that you created in steps 1-2 above and click Details.
  5. You access Work with trend codes, Details showing the items that are included in the analysis. You can delete individual items from the analysis. Select the item you want to work with and click Change.
  6. You access the Line details panel with the line details of the item. You can change the following field:
    7. New trend code
    This field is defaulted with YES for the item which means that you want to use the results from the trend analysis to forecast demand for the item/warehouse combination. Change it to NO if you do not wish to use this information to forecast demand for the item.

    Click OK. The system updates the analysis in the work file.

  7. Return to the Header panel. Select the analysis that you have changed and click Update.
  8. You access Work with trend codes, Update showing the analysis you selected. Enter the applicable printing parameters and click OK to print the analysis report and perform the actual update of the trend code in the Item/Inventory management file. At the same time, the analysis report is being removed from the work file. Exit the routine.
