Release a preliminary manufacturing order

In connection with the release of the manufacturing order the completion date of the manufacturing order can be changed. If you change the completion date, the dispatch date on the sales order will be updated. The new dispatch date will be the completion date + number of days before shortage from the MFG control file. Note: If the manufacturing order completion date is changed to an earlier date than the requested sales order delivery date, the sales order dispatch date will be changed to the requested delivery date.

Note: Preliminary manufacturing orders cannot be released if the sales order is held due to a reason code, except for reason code 02 (preliminary manufacturing order). There are several reasons why the system automatically puts an order or order line on hold and denies further processing. These reasons are identified by the system through order held reason codes. (See Hold functions for more information).

  1. Select the Release preliminary manufacturing orders menu item.
  2. You access Release preliminary M-order. (Note: You can also click Release prel orders on the Work with manufacturing order panel to access this panel).
  3. Tip: Before the manufacturing order is released the completion date can be changed. Enter a new completion date for the manufacturing order in the Compl date column and click OK.

The released manufacturing order has received status 10. Shop floor documents are ready to be printed and production reporting is allowed to start.
