The products that are received at the warehouse can be batch controlled, serial number handled or pallet handled. Bookkeeping and warehouse transactions are created when the reported quantity of products is accepted. The cost is added to the warehouse.
Automatic reception
If the Reception at last operation field in the manufacturing order type is set to YES, the approved quantity of completed products will be automatically reported when the last operation is reported. Manual reception is therefore not necessary. For information about how to report operations, see About manufacturing order operation reporting.
Actual cost for reception
If the Actual cost for reception field in the manufacturing order type is set to YES, and the parent item’s cost type is average or FIFO, then all material and operations for the order must be reported and completed (status 60) before the product reception can be made. For information about how to report operations, see About manufacturing order operation reporting.
Batch number creation
When product reception is reported for batch controlled items the batch number can either be created manually or generated from a batch mask. The batch mask is defined in the Item file, Inventory information panel and it can consist of variables or a combination of variables and fixed constants (text). The batch mask may, for example, include variables such as the manufacturing order number or transaction date/week. The batch number can also be created from a pre-defined number series.
Batch numbers can be created for manufactured items from the following routines:
- Manufacturing order creation
If Batch no at creation is set to YES for the order type that is used, the batch number created at order creation will be used as the default for the reception but a new batch number can manually be entered or retrieved.
If Batch no at creation is set to NO for the order type that is used, a batch number will automatically be retrieved if it is the first time a reception is made against the order and if a batch mask is defined for the item in the Item file.
- Manufacturing order reception
If Batch no at creation is set to YES for the order type that is used, a batch number will be retrieved automatically using the batch mask that is defined for the item in the Item file.
If Batch no at creation is set to NO for the order type that is used, a batch number must be manually entered.
- Operation reporting (last operation)
If Batch no at creation is set to YES for the order type that is used, the batch number created at order creation will be used as the default for the reception. This number can be manually changed or replaced by a retrieved number.
If Batch no at creation is set to NO for the order type that is used, a batch number must manually be entered or retrieved.
See About working with batches for more information about batch controlled items.
