Services can be used to enter general cost elements such as research and travel costs. Service codes are defined in the Project service codes table. The sales price and the planned and actual costs are available.
- Select the Work with projects menu item.
- You access Work with project orders. Select the project you want to work with and click Details.
- You access Phase maintenance. Select the phase to which you want to add an element and click Elements. (Tip: You can also access the element level of the project by clicking Level on this panel and selecting the Element level).
- On Phase element maintenance, click Add services to add a project service to the phase.
- You access Service maintenance. The line number is created automatically with intervals of 10, but can be changed. Complete the following fields:
- Service code
- Enter a code from the Project service codes table indicating what type of service should be added to the phase.
- Quantity
- Enter the service quantity. This is related to the price that is defined for the service and may, for example, refer to hours, days or numbers.
- Description
- Enter a description of the service. If this field is left blank the description is retrieved from Project service codes table.
- Cost code
- Two input fields exist for this field. The first is mandatory and the second is optional. Enter one, or two, code(s) from the Project cost codes table defining the cost codes for this line. The default value for the first cost code, if not manually entered, is the cost code from the Project service codes table. The cost code is used to total up cost price and reported values for the project.
- Note: Cost codes must be defined both for the line and the project. If the cost codes entered here are not already defined on the project, they will be added automatically.
- Note: Information for the remaining fields is retrieved from the Project service codes table and from the project phase. Refer to the Panel help for more information about the fields on this panel.
Click OK to confirm the creation of the phase element line. The information displayed on the panel is updated. You can now add another line to the project phase. When ready, exit the routine.
