Define a client type

Client types, their basic properties and the parameters defined for each type are preloaded, but can be changed. You may also create new client types to suit your needs.

Do as follows:

  1. Select the Work with client types menu item.
  2. On the initial panel, click Add.
  3. On the detail panel, the following fields are relevant:

    Enter a medium of communication indicating the type of client you are defining.
    Description
    Enter a description of the client type.
    Update phone file
    Indicate if the system should automatically update a business partner contact’s communication details for this client type, (i.e. on the Phone numbers panel in the Business partner file), if they are changed.
    Parameters used
    Indicate if the system requires parameters in order to send the created message or information, for example an e-mail address. The system needs to verify that the user has been activated for this particular client and that a valid e-mail address is entered. See Assign a client type to an external contact.
    Used by AMT
    Set to NO to indicate that this client type may not be used by DC1 Alert Management for sending and receiving alert messages.

    Click Ok to update and return to the initial panel.

  5. On the initial panel, select the client type you just created and click Parameters.
  6. On Work with client type parameters, click Add.
  7. You access the detail panel where you configure the parameter details that should be in place for the client type.
  8. Complete the following fields:

    Parameter number
    Enter a unique value to identify the parameter you are specifying indicating the sequential order of execution. Note: You may enter more than one parameter if needed for the client type. If this is the case, repeat this step.
    Description
    Enter a description of the parameter.

    Click OK to update and exit the routine.
