When DC1 Inventory Control is not installed, DC1 Distribution allows you to define one main warehouse and several satellite warehouses. The following graphical description illustrates this:
Flowchart
This is the default route of supply in DC1 Distribution. You, however, have the possibility to override this. For example, if you place a manual order at a satellite warehouse, the system uses the supplier’s lead time/transport time, etc. You can view this information in the Planning time enquiry utilising the external/internal override parameters. See View planning time information for more information.
The main warehouse is known as the “Externally supplied warehouse”. In other words, the item/warehouse is supplied from a supplier.
The satellite warehouse(s) is known as the “Internally supplied warehouse”. In other words the item/warehouse is supplied from another warehouse (the main warehouse).
The table below outlines where you define the different planning time parameters (i.e. from where they are retrieved):
Externally supplied warehouse | Internally supplied warehouse | |
---|---|---|
Administration time | DIS control file | DIS control file |
Lead time | Item/Supplier file | Internal lead time from the Warehouse table. Value retrieved from the Main warehouse (i.e. the main warehouse is the “supplier” for the satellite warehouse). |
Transportation time | Value is retrieved from the Supplier transport time table. The search for the correct value is done on 4 levels:

Value retrieved from the Warehouse table for the actual satellite warehouse. |
