Set up planning time parameters in DC1 Distribution

When DC1 Inventory Control is not installed, DC1 Distribution allows you to define one main warehouse and several satellite warehouses. The following graphical description illustrates this:

Flowchart

This is the default route of supply in DC1 Distribution. You, however, have the possibility to override this. For example, if you place a manual order at a satellite warehouse, the system uses the supplier’s lead time/transport time, etc. You can view this information in the Planning time enquiry utilising the external/internal override parameters. See View planning time information for more information.

The main warehouse is known as the “Externally supplied warehouse”. In other words, the item/warehouse is supplied from a supplier.

The satellite warehouse(s) is known as the “Internally supplied warehouse”. In other words the item/warehouse is supplied from another warehouse (the main warehouse).

The table below outlines where you define the different planning time parameters (i.e. from where they are retrieved):

Externally supplied warehouse Internally supplied warehouse
Administration time DIS control file DIS control file
Lead time Item/Supplier file Internal lead time from the Warehouse table. Value retrieved from the Main warehouse (i.e. the main warehouse is the “supplier” for the satellite warehouse).
Transportation time Value is retrieved from the Supplier transport time table. The search for the correct value is done on 4 levels:

  1. Supplier/Main warehouse/M.O.T
  2. Supplier/Main warehouse
  3. Supplier/-/M.O.T
  4. Supplier/-/-
Value retrieved from the Warehouse table for the actual satellite warehouse.
