The Planning time enquiry displays the different planning times, depending on the delivery source (i.e. stock, BtB transit or BtB direct).
Depending on the different parameters set up for the item and the selection made in this enquiry you have the possibility to view different routes of supply (with different lead times and transport times).
If you enter only the mandatory information (i.e. Item and Warehouse) on the selection panel of the Planning time enquiry the system will use the default parameter settings when calculating and displaying the planning time and its components.
If it is an Externally supplied item you can:
- do an Internal override (i.e. complete the From wh override field) to view planning time information for the warehouse from which the item could be supplied.
- do an External override (i.e. complete the Supplier field) to view planning time information for another, alternative, supplier.
If it is an Internally supplied item you can:
- do an Internal override (i.e. complete the From wh override field) to view planning time information for another warehouse from which the item could be supplied.
- do an External override (i.e. complete the Supplier field) to view planning time information for another, alternative, supplier.
For the purpose of this example the item can be externally supplied from two suppliers (i.e. the main supplier for the item and another supplier).
To view the planning time to replenish this item from the main supplier do as follows:
- Access the Planning time enquiry.
- On the initial panel enter the Item and the Warehouse and click OK.
- You access the detail panel outlining the planning time parameters:
- Supplier
- Displays the main supplier for the item, retrieved from the Item file.
- Manner of transport
- Displays the manner of transport for the item, retrieved from the Item file/Supplier information panel).
- The second half of the panel (below the line) displays the Planning time values. The sum of these values results in the:
- Planning time
- Displays the total planning time in days.
- Planning time end
- Displays the date when the item is calculated to be received into stock if a purchase order is initiated today. It is not possible to ship the item to a customer before this date.
- You return to the initial panel.
- Supplier
- Enter the supplier code.
- External override
- This field by default is set to NO, but can be changed. For this example, leave the default value.
- You access Planning time enquiry, outlining the planning time parameters for this other supplier.
The first half of the panel displays the selections made on the initial panel. The system retrieves the following information:
Earliest arrival date
If an earliest shipment date exists for the item in the Item file/Supplier information file and if Earliest ship date less today’s date is greater than normal lead time, then the earliest date the item can be shipped from the supplier is also indicated in the second half of the panel.
The Lead time will then be calculated based on this date. From this information, the earliest arrival date of the item can be determined. It is calculated as follows:
Today’s date + Transport time + the greater of (Earliest ship date – today’s date) or Lead time |
For Purchase suggestions and Simulations, Purchase orders, Sales order entry and Sales order replan, the earliest shipment date will override the normal lead time for the item/supplier combination when the Earliest ship date is farther in the future than the normal lead time would indicate.
Click OK.
Another supplier
To view the planning time parameters for another supplier enter the following information:
Click OK.
Note: Even though you left External override set to NO on the initial panel, the system has changed this code to YES, since you entered another supplier (i.e. overrode the main supplier for the item).
